There are two routes to studying at Heidelberg University for vocationally qualified students without a school-based university entrance qualification:

  • Direct access to a degree programme for master craftsmen and graduates of equivalent professional further training courses, e.g. further training courses based on the further training regulations according to § 19 of the State Nursing Act (e.g. for geriatric psychiatry, intensive care, nephrology, oncology, surgical service and endoscopy service, nursing service management for elderly care and outpatient services, psychiatry, rehabilitation, ward management), further training of nurses, paediatric nurses for the management of the nursing service and tasks in hospital management, further training of nurses, paediatric nurses for teaching and management at schools for nursing professions.

  • Indirect access via an assessment test for professionally qualified students who have completed vocational training and generally have three years of professional experience in a field related to their desired field of study.

The Studienkolleg of Heidelberg University organises the assessment test for admission to higher education for professionals every year in May on the basis of the Ruprecht Karls University statutes on assessment tests for professionally qualified students.
