Gerontology Subject Council

The Subject Council is the subject-related meeting of the members of the Institute of Gerontology listed below. It develops and coordinates proposals and concepts for study, teaching and related tasks within the subject of gerontology. In addition, it supports the directorate and the faculty in fulfilling their tasks.

Tasks of the Subject Council

According to the statutes of 16.12.2010 (Rektorat Mitteilungsblatt 24/10, from p.1931), the subject council deals in particular with the following topics:

• Drafting and revising admission, study and examination regulations as well as module guides.
• Use of funds and rooms earmarked for studies and teaching (e.g. QSM funds).
• Planning of course offerings (in consultation with the subject coordinator).
• Teaching evaluation.
• Public relations within and outside the department.
• Mediation between students and lecturers.

Composition of the Subject Council

In our institute, the subject council is composed of one student, one academic associate and one full-time university lecturer. The term of service is 2 years, only the student representative is elected every year. If there are no nominations, the position remains vacant; if there is more than one candidate, substitutes are also appointed. Currently, the Gerontology Subject Council is composed as follows:
